Canonical and Dell EMC provide certified, production-ready Kubernetes solution


Dell EMC and Canonical today announced the continued evolution of their long-standing partnership to bring a tested and validated container orchestration solution to market through a reference architecture framework that helps organisations quickly and confidently implement Kubernetes technologies into production.

The partnership brings to market a reliable solution founded upon Dell’s 14th generation of PowerEdge servers and ethernet switches, Canonical’s Charmed Kubernetes, and leveraging Software Defined Storage (Ceph).

“Dell EMC and Canonical extend their decade-long strategic relationship to address the growing Kubernetes ecosystem. ” says Mike Arterbury, VP of Global Technology Alliances, Dell EMC. “The Dell EMC and Canonical solution for Kubernetes provides customers with the ability to deploy the latest industry-leading technology for containers with a proven infrastructure for rapid deployment and validated operations. Canonical’s Charmed Kubernetes built on Ubuntu on Dell EMC best-of-breed servers and switches helps modern DevOps customers move quickly from early release containerized applications to production deployment as part of their digital transformation process.”

This reference architecture enables predictable results in a multi-cloud environment, with pure upstream, highly available Kubernetes that is easy to consume and helps customers innovate faster. The infrastructure solution includes cluster deployment and monitoring with MaaS provisioning and Juju automation tools, in addition to logging, monitoring and alerting components.

The scalability of Canonical’s Charmed Kubernetes solution is matched by PowerEdge R640 servers to provide automation and security, with a flexible architecture that meets performance demands.

This announcement builds on Dell EMC and Canonical’s existing partnership which spans PC, cloud, IoT edge gateways, and now containers.
